Experience

Before joining The Boda Group, Karel worked in academic and nonprofit music organizations. She began her career identifying and cataloging opera recordings for an online music library and editing recordings for a Boston-area recording studio. Karel then served as concert manager for the Wellesley College Concert Series, where she managed classical, jazz, early music, electronic, and world music performances by visiting artists, faculty performers, and student ensembles. She went on to serve as registrar for a community music school in Greater Boston, where she helped migrate the school’s student registration database to an internet-facing system. In 2017, Karel joined the Boda team as operations manager, and she was promoted to senior manager of operations in 2019.

What matters to me is…

my husband and son, our pets, and good music.

One career move that was risky or took guts was…

transitioning away from working in from music-related roles to working in business. Moving to a new field felt like a risk at the time, but it has helped me to grow and sharpen my skills.

My friends say I’m…

caring, thoughtful, and have a silly streak.

One place that is special to me is…

Perkinsville, VT, where my grandmother lived. Many of my favorite childhood memories are of family visits and holidays spent at her pink farmhouse in rural Vermont.
