Much of our executive development work focuses on building capacity and enterprise-wide perspective in future C-suite leaders. According to recent research, 70% of executives view silo mentality as the biggest obstacle to serving customers, and 67% of collaboration failures are attributed to silos.
We have found that peer group coaching can help!
When leaders from different areas of the business come together in peer group coaching, they:
- Learn and practice coaching skills, which are clear leadership skills. While most leaders say they know how to coach, we have found that 95% of those we work with actually are not coaching at all; they are advising and mentoring. A peer coaching program helps them build these important coaching skills.
- Work on their most important challenges and priorities. The leader brings real issues to their group, has the opportunity to explore those issues, and receives coaching from peers to help them think about and make progress on the challenge.
- Increase their understanding of other parts of the business and build enduring cross functional relationships. Facilitated by certified executive coaches, peer coaching groups build and strengthen cross-functional relationships that continue long after the programs end.
As always, we’re eager for your thoughts and experiences here. Please reach out if you’d like to explore our peer group coaching approach in your organization.
Sincerely,
Your Boda/BTS Executive Coaching Team
